Ellen Beekmans collection is contemporary antique and available at the Rijksmuseum
Dutch jewelry designer Ellen Beekmans started her label in 2010 and was already asked to design a collection for the Rijksmuseum shop in Amsterdam. Her jewelry is distinguished by femininity, sophistication and color. Beekmans is inspired by women from other cultures and translates this into the collection: Bohemian, Marrakech, Terre Massai and Méditerranée.
Combining colors has always fascinated her both in her paintings as in her jewelry collection. (Semi)gemstones, pearls and freshwater pearls are materials which she enjoys working with. In addition the Dutch designer uses old and unique materials for her vintage line, materials she hunts down personally on antique markets. She is always on the lookout for parts for the jewelry; anywhere in the world. All her jewelry is handmade in the Netherlands.
Earlier this year Beekmans made a collection specially for the Rijksmuseum, it is a series that features butterflies, insects and leaves. ‘I am tremendously honored to have my work in the shop at the Rijksmuseum. I love art and include this into my jewelry designs. It is great that my collection is now available amidst the art.’
